PARENT TESTIMONIAL

Con has worked for Central Community Church Kids Ministry team for many years. I have personally worked with her for the past three years. She is cheerful, caring, and optimistic person. Tammy is friendly with all the families here at Central Community Church. She is very dependable and willing to help each week. She shows love for the children she works with and her church each week. I’ve never seen Tammy stressed out or frustrated. She is always willing to work hard and participate in Sunday activities. Tammy has always demonstrated that she is capable individual who has been a joy to work with. Please contact me at elizabeth.russell@centralcommunity.church if you have any other questions.

I would like to support Tammy Starkey’s nomination for Kansas Provider of the Year! Tammy is a model childcare provider who goes above and beyond for the children and families in her care. Tammy works hard to insure children are safe and have healthy learning experiences. She also provides outdoor learning activities across multiple domains, giving children access to nature as they explore materials in natural elements that enhance their learning. In addition to ensuring the children have multiple learning experiences, Tammy has created a system of support and education for the families. She has provided parenting classes on various topics such as Handling Challenging Behaviors, How Temperaments Affect Relationships, Encouraging Creative Expression and Self Esteem, and Guiding Children’s Behavior. While participating in the Links to Quality pilot program, Tammy used grant funds to host a family dinner, which she provided door prizes and engaged the attendees in a conversation about their family culture. She also used this event to raise awareness and provide resources on positive adult-child interaction. Through these events Tammy is showing families that they are always in the forethought of her mind and are an important aspect of her program. Tammy supports the professional growth of others through her encouraging interactions at meetings and providing guidance to her peers who turn to her often. She is willing to share her wealth of knowledge by helping others see themselves as early childhood professionals and find ways to improve the quality of life for children, families, and childcare providers.

I would like to take a moment to recommend Tammy Starkey for Child Care Provider of the Year. I am Librarian for the Wichita Public Library and have been visiting her family child care home for about a year to conduct storytimes with her children in care. At each visit, Tammy and her assistant interact positively with all children present. There is always evidence of developmentally appropriate and engaging activities being offered to the children. The actual time I spend at Tammy’s home is rather limited; however, I learn more about the quality of care she provides and her dedication to the field through her business Facebook page. She frequently posts articles and ideas that help her parents raise successful children. I’m amazed that a busy family child care provider, who already works extremely long hours takes the time to maintain such a professional and helpful Facebook page for her families. Tammy also hosted a holiday party for her families, and I am sure that was not the first evening family event she hosted. These events require a great deal of planning, time, and dedication. It is obvious that her family child care home provides the children and their caregivers an extended family. Overall, Tammy is a dedicated early childhood professional that provides excellent care and education to the families she serves. If you have any further questions, I can be reached at amharris@wichita.gov or (316) 261-8568.

We write this in recommendation of Tammy Starkey and Tammy’s Little Angels Learning Childcare. In August of 2018, we enrolled our son in Tammy’s in home childcare program. Tammy and her staff have a wide knowledge of child experience and education. She is an understanding, caring, patient, and flexible person. Tammy provides programs for the children of all ages to ensure learning and development. She has continued to guide our son in his milestones by taking time day to work with him. Tammy and the staff communicate well with us as parents regarding each day. They read with the children daily, complete crafts, listen to music, play, explore, and so much more. We are fortunate to have Tammy’s in home childcare caring for our son. We feel each day that he is in a safe place. It is comforting to know he is in a place with open communication in which we can reach out any time of the day. Tammy provides her knowledge in a way that is guided by the parents choices, and she provides her experience to assist us as new parents. Our son continues to grow and learn from Tammy and her staff. We highly recommend Tammy’s Little Angels Learning Childcare. This is a comfortable home in which your child will experience opportunities to make friends, gain education, learn, and grow. It is a safe and educational home for your children to grow.
