ABOUT US
Welcome to Tammy’s Little Angels Learning Childcare. TLA operates under a philosophy that children need to be treated with warmth and respect. The children served by TLA need experiences that will foster physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. The atmosphere at TLA will be a fun, loving, caring, and educational environment that encourages independence, constructive problem solving, positive self-esteem, and improved self-worth.
Karl Joaquin
Owner
Hello, my name is Karl Joaquin. I graduated from Butler County Community College in 2002 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and a second degree in Business Management. I worked very hard in all of my courses; receiving a 4.0-grade point average for each semester. I have been a licensed Childcare Provider since 1997 and I enjoy it immensely!! I am the mother of two adult children which is the main reason for starting this childcare business so many years ago; furthermore, I am a grandmother of 5, two of whom are currently attending TLA. I am a self-motivated and responsible person. I maintain CPR and first aid certifications for infants on up to adults. Since 1997 I have attended many training classes on childcare and child development and have attended many cities and statewide conferences on Childcare. These conferences provide more ideas on activities to do with the children alongside increased knowledge of childcare practices. As a licensed provider I am required to participate in a minimum of 20 hours of childcare training each year; in addition to this training, I am required to have 2 hours of training on nutrition each year to participate in a state-assisted food program; however, my attendance usually exceeds these requirements.
Mission
Our management philosophy encases the treatment of our employees regarding reward, discipline, and how we ensure a safe, fair, and rewarding work environment; this philosophy allows our employees to perform their job well. I will treat all staff members with respect, equality, and most important, fairness. I expect nothing but the best from my employees. When someone is provided with employment, they will begin with a 90-day adjustment period. During this period, while most of the required training will occur, the employee and employer will have the opportunity to evaluate the relationship and decide if the relationship is acceptable. After 90 days the employer and employee will discuss the evaluations and reflect on their outcome including performance, environment, and etc.; furthermore, approximately every year thereafter, employees will be evaluated at which time a monetary increase could possibly occur. Take note that all information contained herein is subject to change provided proper notification.
Vision
My vision as stated above is “to provide your child with a safe home environment where they may thrive in the experience of a happy and fun early childhood development program” for children in the Wichita Kansas area; alongside this, providing both the educational background and the entrepreneurial determination to make this childcare a successful business. I have built this business on experience and knowledge of the early childhood development stages. I have learned many critical early childhood education theories and have studied creative practices for early childhood education. This provides me a thorough understanding of the needs of children of all ages and what it takes to instill education and fun.
